What do i do with my friends?

Ok so i noticed in my profile that i can add people as friends so i did :-D

BUT

I have no idea what i do with them :hmm:

does anyone know what you do with these friends i.e what you can do that you cant do with everyone else on the forum??

Also same question for social groups...i thought about starting one but the same thing again i dont know what it actually does.

Anyone wiser than me??

Anyone wiser than me??Contacts, friends and social groups are part of the "Social Networking" features of vBulletin. It's like a mini-myspace within this forum.


A contact is a nothing but a shortcut. It's a one way relationship - you add somebody to your contact list, like you do with email addresses. Nothing more, nothing less. In some locations the forum will show you that a certain member is a "contact" of you by adding a "+" to the username.

A friend is a reciprocal relationship. A "Friendship Request" can be approved or denied. Approved friendships are shown in you public user profile which you can see by clicking on your username in the top right corner (next to "Welcome"). You will see a partial list of friends and albums - looks like Myspace. The contact/friend status can be used to grant or deny access to personal content - the vBulletin Blog (not installed here) uses this. The "Open Contacts Popup" is another example.

A social group is another facility to encourage people to make friends by creating their own social/interest groups. These groups are enhanced by having their own public messaging system, and the ability to add pictures to the group from user albums.
