View Full Version : John Miceli Charity Auctions
John is going to add a Charity Auction at the start of every month and the first Charity Auction is going on Ebay tonight
You can find more info on his website (http://www.john-miceli.com) on a new link called 'Charity Auctions' and he also put up a blog about it HERE (http://john-miceli.blogspot.com/2008/09/friend-of-ours-turned-us-on-to-this.html)
The charity is Compassion International (http://www.compassion.com/about/aboutus.htm). John sponsors two children already through this charity and he is hoping to be able to sponsor another child by doing these Auctions
The first Auction is for this very cool drum head that John used at Rehearsals in NY back in June. That has the set list on it.
The auction will go on today at 3.00pm Eastern time and 11.00pm UK time HERE (http://shop.ebay.com/merchant/drummersgear_W0QQ_nkwZQQ_armrsZ1QQ_fromZQQ_mdoZ) I'll post the link to the auction when it goes on.

John is giving away a set of John Miceli / Meat Loaf drum sticks with this auction. (As many of you already know a set of these alone went for £102! on eBay last week lol.)

This is a really great cause and it means a lot to John. He has said he'll post updates on his site from the child that gets sponsored.
Deb
wow, thanx Deb, not sure funds will allow what these are likely to go for but i will have a look anyway, i hope John raises alot from this, it certainly is a great cause, nice one John :thumsupbig:

Wow Deb,
this is really nice! It's amazing how this forum allows for so many different needs! I really hope those items go for a lot of money - the charity sounds well worth it!

6 bids already and only been on 2hrs :-D
13 bids now, nice to see it off to a good start, i fear it is nearing the top of my budget already though, but having said that i hope it goes well above my means in this case as its for charity.
LOL Anji, I'd rather see it go to a bigger amount for John's charity than that mans pocket who sold John's drumsticks lastweek for £102
exactly Deb, its such a shame when people who recieve things us fans would cherish see a cash value in them instead of a great keepsake :hmm: I really hope John raises alot from this, it's a great idea and a lovely item for fans too.

That's very very good indeed. It's not often that these kinds of prices can be fetched. I own quite a few signed items and have only once had to fork out this kind of money. That was well worth it though, it was a collection where I just had to jump!

I am amazed. The $200 that the drum head is going for will support a child for 6 months. I am currently supporting one girl that just sent my family a letter thanking us. She said that her family bought a hen so that they can have eggs every day. I wish I could support everyone of these kids. I want to thank Deb and my wife for putting this all together. I want to also thank everyone that has bis on these items. I know there not worth much but to the child we support it worth a life time.
Thanks
John

I'm so chuffed the auction has gone well John and i look forward to seeing your next ones do well also, i'm sure they will too. That is really cool getting the letter and seeing what a difference it makes, i'm sure we would like to see no child struggle to have the basics but every little helps and one child helped could be a teacher or doctor etc for that village and help their community grow :-)
Nice one John, your fans will support you in this as much as possible i'm sure
We all take the little things for granted. It takes something like knowing you helped someone buy a hen so that they have eggs to feed their family, to make us realise just how lucky we all are. This is a great idea John. I'm sure you will be able to help more and more children with this auction idea of yours

I think we all take things for granted, when you hear that the family were so pleased to buy a hen for eggs,it brings a lump to your throat...good on you John...what a wonderful idea to support the charity and to your wife and Deb too..its not right in this day and age that kids are still suffering like they do..

You're all so right in your comments - reading about how poor some people are simply makes me speechless... And to think how easily things could change!

Thank you Mike.
I wanted to support the charity, & guess what? - I'm currently the highest bidder:-D
Me being highest bidder probably won't last for long though, but I don't mind as the most important thing here is that the item raises a lot of money for charity:-)
Yea it really is a great idea and a worthy cause:-D
LOL Heather, if I'd of known you wanted a drum skin this bad I'd have gave you one of mine
Seriously though, It's great to see the auction doing so well

Yep Deb! I was out-bid at the last possible moment!! Bloodflowerz did warn me about this:-)
Shame because I would have liked to have owned the drumskin, but I'm happy that John raised a good deal of money for charity.
I'll try again next month:-)
LOLOLOL was that the winner Siobhan? If so then yeah that is Andy lol. I knew it had to be a ebay pro to bid at the last second like that :lmao:

:lmao::lmao:
Yep, that's unfortunately how it's done, Heather... I'm a bit of an Ebay pro myself and the best way to get soemthing at a reasonable price when there's plenty of interest is to be logged on, have the amount you're willing to risk already typed and then refresh until there are exactly 15 seconds to go. Then you click...and hope for the best! It normally works.
