Oh yes, she's really VERY cute! She also has good style and an amazing haircut! But I think Marya tops her - Marya is taller and has the most beautiful face ever! And her eyes...they make me melt like an ice cube on a hot plate! Marya is the most gorgeous rock star ever! And then of course is her awesome voice! It's the best on the planet! :hearts:

yes, I really think Nena in English doesn't work... it's not the same, her songs aren't written in that language. The same goes for Lafee - it just isn't the same. Her English version of the 1st album - I listened to it once and shelved it... I mean, "Ich wünsch dir einen Virus" - how would you ever translate that so it would sound as cool as it does in German?

yes, that's right.
"ich wünsch dir einen Virus" became translate like that: " I wish you would have scabies" and it's simply not the same, if you have a song in German and then you'll sing it in an other language.
so it's my mind :)

Yes Deb, it's exactly that "Nena"! :-)
However, even though you "Brits" like her and her famous 99 red balloons song in either language - Angela and I were just brainstorming that the actual meaning or better "sense" of what Nena (and also Lafee for that matter - a VERY young new version of Nena, she had her 1st cd at 16 (!!!!!)) is often lost in the translation and so a song then sounds almost lame, which in the original was powerful...

That's interesting Mike. So do you also think the same can happen with English songs the other way around? Do those who's first language isn't English miss a lot in the translation?

Oh yes, very much so, Deb! It's particularly evident in "dubbed" movies - it just isn't the same! For instance, can you imagine "Gilmore Girls" translated into German?! There's just simply no way all those really "English" jokes and sly comments can survive the translation! The other way around it's the same. I couldn't imagine some of the really clever German shows, or in this case Nena/Lafee songs having the punch of the original in another language!

Same here - but the text is really much better in the original! In this case I think the tune was so amazing, that the fact that the words (in English) didn't have much meaning didn't matter so much!

My last concert I have been to was by Avril Lavigne on her The Best Damn Tour at June 2008 here in Germany (in Düsseldorf) ! It was great but she has had a little problem with her voice!
Furthermore she was very friendly, sweet and smiled the hole time. It was very good to see a kind person like her on stage!
Also I saw a little Band: " Arme Ritter" here in Germany in November 2008.

Towards the end of my holidays I went to see a new American band by the name of "Wednesday 13". Not many came in spite of the cheapest tickets ever, but it was fantastic! Some amazing people were there! There was also an incredible German band as guest ahead of Wednesday 13, they call themselves "Lacrimas Profundere". They were so unbelievably powerful, they almost stole the show! :-)
i have some of wednesday 13's stuff, they're pretty cool imo :-)
