The first album I owned was "High Voltage", by AC/DC. Later on I listened to far heavier stuff like Venom, Hellhammer, Sodom, Destruction, Bathory etc. It's interesting, that most of those bands are still around, in fact AC/DC is releasing a new album in mid-October and then going on tour. Should interest Marya, since she mentions them as one of the bands she likes... :rock1:

I agree back then when I was about 10 everyone listened to the mass produced bands and you were seen as wierd if you didn't. I'm so glad I broke away and found raw talent and music as it is so much better!

First album which I bough was Depeche Mode in old good MC (Casette) :D :D
Well, my favorite music styles are pop (good ones like Robbie Williams), rock, pop-rock, industrial and electronic. Most of bands i listen are quite popular worldwide, so i guess I listen mostly pop-rock xD

Well ok...I guess I just have a really hard time seeing Madonna as anything other than a money-making machine. So desperate to look 20 when she's not, changing her style of music to whatever is "in" at the moment - no real style of her own... But please don't be offended, this is obviously just my personal opinion! I wouldn't dream of stopping you listening to her, if she means so much to you!

I'd never looked at it that way Mike, interesting........
Funnily enough I was watching her the other night thinking what is it people actually rave about here? Not that I don't think she's good or was. It just seems there's a lot of hype. Same with a lot of groups I guess :hmm:

Hey there Deb,
agreed, there's talent in her - but for one thing only: making lots of money. Apparently when she started, her voice was so awful, the managers made her take singing lessons! Hope I haven't offended anyone now, it's just something I read...

Didn't offend me and I'm sure it wont Chelle :-) But I guess that's true of many in the music industry. They make it through hype and many other reasons. I do think Madonna has done a lot for the music industry though, just not as much as the hype would lead us to believe. And is definitely over rated nowdays.

Unfortunately i tend to agree here, i actually posted the same thing just worded different on another forum where madonna was being discussed and didnt get good response lol.
Where some see her constant style change as moving with the times, i just just view it as an attempt to make as much money for as long as possible, i dont see how you can be passionate about your music if its just to fit in with fads and trends.
Small changes in albums always happen but hers were far too different for me to follow, i liked some of her earlier stuff but i just dont get what she's trying to do lately.

I was one of the weird ones lol. When i was at high school Take That and co were big the first time round ;-)
i took alot ALOT of stick for the music i was into lol i had a black folder with Meat Loaf Rocks on it :hehe: boy did i get made fun of for that lol, i was also into Rob Zombie, Ugly Kid Joe, Bon Jovi, Queen, etc.....pretty much any rock really, not very school friendly bands lol, also really love 60's,70's music.i remember going into school one day and my friends were all raving about the new LL Cool J single, i was STUPID enough to ask who LL Cool J was  took me a LONG time to live that one down :hmm:
i also love country music but wasnt daft enough to let them know THAT lol

Its a shame that sometimes people can't take objective criticism, i hate it if people want you to agree with them, as if their opinion is more valid than yours.

Though it doesnt always work for me, i tend to upset people alot with my view of things, but we are all different and see things different, doesnt mean i'm right just that it's not for me :dontknow:

Exactly Chelle, and thank you for accepting my opinion here and on the other forum, i wish everyone was able to have a debate without thinking you are personally attacking them, i guess liking quite alot of not-so-popular bands has hardened me over the years agains the odd comment lol i hate even more the people who keep re-posting the same thing just worded different until everyone else gives up and lets them have the last word.

you know bloodflowerz sometimes this death of famous are mysteries...
why so suddenly?
my opinion is crazy but i think that he was very tired for being famous because he could not hang out or go for a dinner fans were chasing him all the time and many fans dress like him so if she had a true problem with this life he prefered to direct his death and go to leave somewhere else quiet! he tasted all the succcess that's why all the universe knows him so he propably lives in a quiet place with no fans to chase him and dresslike him no media with his family if he has..!
that's my crazy opinion!
hi prox,
well there are still some fans/people who think elvis is still alive and hides himself somewhere.
i once read an interview with the doctor who did the autopsy and he said "well i'm not sure if elvis really died in august 1977 but i'm sure he was dead when i did the autopsy on his body"
so i guess that leaves no more questions

yeah!!! frankie thanks for the important infos!!!!!!:y rock!! yes bloodflowerz we mst know how to use the popularity because its dangerous!
i think Elvis lives in a bedsit with Santa :-p
I think even more so in these modern times you need to have a talent for dealing with fame as well a talent for whatever it is you do (unfortunately its more important to have the first than the last thing these days :-( )
