ive only ever seen him sing it live once...would so love to see it again.. Neil sang it at a pub when we were in Liverpool...i even cried then...lol
Dead Ringer is my favorite Meat Loaf album. Although, For Crying Out Loud still sends me shivers after all these years. That's music magic!
Finally we have a Marya fan that knows his Meat Loaf lol :-p Or should I say Steinman ;-)

You can say both. I know most of the non-Steinman Meat Loaf, and everything of the non Meat Steinman songs. The vegetarian Steinman if you will.
What's your favorite album?
Hmmm I think i'd have to say Bat III although I tend to not have favourites. But this one probably means more to me than the rest. Followed by CHSIB
His Bat III album is very cool Nadine  Paul and John both play on Bat III which makes it even cooler lol.

I'd tend to agree with that Deb, i think CHSIB is a very underrated album.
Blind as a bat, Alive, and even though i dont rate it as a song Cry Over Me's lyrics hit the spot with me, off the top of my scrambled head those mean the most to me right now in my life.
Rock n roll dreams and Frying pan have always been very close to me through the years too though.
This is Alive, someone made a vid for it as it wasn't released as a single but thought it good to post it so those that dont know it can enjoy the song :-)

I am a huge Meat fan as some of you know. As for my fave album thats a hard one, mmm i am torn between Bat1, CHSIB Bat 3 and Deadringer, then again WTTN:-p
My fave songs are CHSIB, What About Love, FCOL and Deadringer..oh fu*k it. I guess what i am trying to say is that it all depends on my mood, how my day is going, what i feel like listening to, if you know what i mean, music is like an IV drip, it feeds what emotion you are feeling, i hope some of you know what i mean, its kinda hard to describe!
that was surprisingly well put Chelle :hehe: well done ;-)

Actually, I took my username from the Jim Steinman album. I'm a much bigger Meat fan then I am Jim Steinman fan, but I do like his other work and I always thought it was interesting to hear his own interpretations of his work. I like Meat's version, but I was a little miffed that they left out the "Godspeed" part, as that was my favorite part of the original. Off of that album, I much prefer "What About Love". I don't know if I have a favorite Meat song. I can't pick just one.
I love that song off that album too, it's a strong contender with Blind as a bat and Alive but i think Alive would win for me.
It's good to hear different variations, though i think fans tend to always prefer the version their fave singers did to any others, Steinman's album was good imo but his lack of singing ability put me off listening again i'm afraid
One thing I always found interesting about Meat Loaf's songs by Steinman is that they are often performed by other artist. Sometimes I think Meat's version is better (2 out of 3, Rock & Roll Dreams), other times not (Surf's Up, Future).
I still love the non-Steinman Meat. :-) WTTN is a favorite of mine, and I really enjoy Bat3. Blind as a Bat and Cry Over Me is my favs. I can't even listen to Meats/Des version of Bad For Good. Just garbage compared to the original, IMO. It's okay, Desmond Child has fully redeemed himself a long time ago. His written countless of my favorite songs, and he's very cool in person.
I've been listening to Home By Now/No Matter What lately. That's a very underrated track.

But then again, isn't it more like Meat covers other artists' Steinman songs? Although I don't know if "covers" is the right word as they're normally very different and his versions are, with a few exceptions, the better known ones. Not that I'm complaining, I love Meat, and as a general rule I prefer his versions of the songs. My favorite version of "The Future" is Patti's version, though.:-D
I think "Home By Now/No Matter What" is a great track as well, although "A Kiss Is A Terrible Thing To Waste" is the real reason I bought The Very Best Of.
I guess in my mind I never really considered them "cover songs" if Steinman had anything to do with the production. You really can't cover your own song, he can do with it like he pleases. Now some of those Country versions of 2 out of 3, those I consider a cover.
I think it's great to hear different takes on great songs. I like to hear Pandora's Box and Bat 2 together. Some really different approaches to the songs and some are really similar.

Valid point. ;-)
I think the Pandora's Box album is a good listen. I still rank Meat's versions better, with the exception of "It's All Coming Back" and "The Future". Love Holly Sherwood's vocal on "Good Girls Go To Heaven." I think it's a real shame that they didn't do more work together after Streets Of Fire. I think an Sherwood/Steinman album could have done really well.
