Tokio Hotel [ˈtoːkio hoˈtɛl] is a German band founded in Magdeburg, Germany in 2001 by guitarist Tom Kaulitz, singer Bill Kaulitz, drummer Gustav Schäfer, and bassist Georg Listing[5]. The quartet has scored four number one singles and has released two number one albums in their native Germany, selling nearly 5 million CDs and DVDs there.[6] After recording an unreleased demo-CD under the name "Devilish" and having their contract with Sony BMG terminated, the band released their first German-language album, Schrei, as Tokio Hotel on Island Records in 2005. Schrei sold more than half a million copies worldwide [7] and spawned four top five singles in both Germany and Austria. In 2007, the band released their second German album Zimmer 483 and their first English album Scream which have combined album sales of over one million copies worldwide and helped win the band their first MTV European Music Award for Best InterAct. The former, Zimmer 483, spawned three top five singles in Germany while the latter, Scream, spawned two singles that reached the top twenty in new territories such as Portugal, Spain and Italy. Their first live album, Zimmer 483 - Live In Europe, was released near the end of 2007. On March 25th, their English album Scream was released in Canada while the album was planned for release on April 29th, 2008 in the United States, but due to Bill Kaulitz's vocal problems, had to be postponed to May 6th.
Tokio Hotel is alsou me favourite band. Good songs and glam rock. Favourite song is By Your Side. :-p

Hey there Mariann,

re Tokio Hotel: I went to see them when they were here...and they certainly have talent, that much I can say. What I guess is somewhat difficult to handle is the really strange style of Bill - the others are ok. Also, the way Bill totally takes the limelight. But as far as song-content is concerned, I think they hit the pulse of teens and post-teens and that is the real reason for their success - to my mind at least. One thing which can be said in their favour: they were not mass-produced like many other TV superstars. They started their own band really young and never gave up. That I respect, in spite of the criticism I mentioned above.

Mariann, never ever delete just because other people dont like them too, it would be a very boring world if we all liked exactly the same things, it is what makes us all different, it is good to experience new music all the time, i know this from being a dj, some things you think you wont like but you do when you actually have a listen, not always true but you should still recommend what you think is good, i am sure you wouldnt like everything that i do but i will still try to find something you have never heard before :thumsupbig:

I went to 2 concerts from Tokio Hotel and I must say they are very good live. Also they have great fans. It was at both concerts a great atmosphere!
I like them but I am not really a Fan of them ;-)

I don't like them, no I hate them. Here in Germany they are so popular, i don't understand it. there are bands that are much beter then tokio hotel, and still everybody like tokio hotel, espeacially kids in age i think 8 until 16:-(

at bills and toms birthday there was anywhere in germany a fan meeting to celebrate their birthday, cos they wern't in germany that time. and there were 3 girls who copy th and sang their songs and style like them. horrble, i've seen it on tv..

Well they are crazy! But they are very friendly fans in Germany. They camp before the concerts but all very friendly and happy together.
So I think its alright if they have fun with it.
But I`ll never be one of them ;-)
Also I think it is not normal just to stlye like them it is crazy ;-)

Well, fans can go quite crazy, when they really love their stars/band more than anything in the whole world... I could imagine myself going quite crazy also with some stars... So I 'd rather not be too too critical of crazy TH fans. But committing suicide over never being with Bill really is taking things way too far! :-)

The 20-year-old musician was in his BMW 3-Series on Tuesday afternoon in the German city of Magdeburg when the accident happened. He reportedly overtook a line of traffic and drove straight over tram tracks which had been blocked off. His car was then hit by an oncoming tram, skidded into the right lane of traffic and hit two further cars.

Schafer and his two passengers - Katharina Kretzschmar (29), the sister of SCM sport director Stefan Kretzschmar, and Denny E. (29) from Hamburg - were taken by ambulance to hospital, although they were only slightly hurt.

The drummer may still be feeling pain, however, as he is set to be charged with bodily harm due to negligence.

But he shouldn't let it get him down - he will appear with his Tokio Hotel bandmates at the European Music Awards in Liverpool, where they are up for two gongs.

Welll for ages I've wondered why they were as big as they are lol. I've always compared them to Marya :hehe: As I thought the lead singer was a she :rofl: Then last night I watched the first video and thought, that girls voice is nowhere near as good as Marya's :hehe: I even showed my hubby lol. I thought the voice was too deep. Now I know why :lmao:

I guess this really is the first sign of me being old :-( Isn't that what happens the oldies start to think long haired males are females :hehe: I even said the same thing to Anji on skype last night lolol

But now it's all so much clearer lol. Sorry :-D lol

We think we can't agre with you. Because we were on Tokio Hotel concert in Warsaw. And we should say that it's something fantastic. That atmosphere, that the guys' energetic, that awersome lights & contact with the fans... But maybe we say it because of we're fans too and can't imagine something else!:-D:-D

Yes, the German language version is better! :-D However, the English-language version, again, I get a better understanding of the German language.

Each to their own opinion, but I think the entire new album is nowhere near as good as their first two albums. I really think they've lost their inspiration - it's, as we say in German, a "0815" album. Which means it could've easily been done by any other band. Biggest disappointment this year. Compare the new Shakira album to the new Tokio Hotel album... Shakira wins hands down!

Yes, the new album is available everywhere Nicola. I bought it without listening - only to regret it. It's such a weak, boring album. Plus their new look is simply ghastly. I used to defend them - that's over. They've become a victim of their own success. This album is catastrophic.

yes i was at three concerts and I return in April at Paris Bercy.
Almost every time, we go to their hotel with my cousin.
She writes a book on them but they are not approachable. The few times we see them it's far and the VSD does not let us approach them.
But it's a little understandable Because their fans are very crazy!
there is always some problems with they (jalousy, rumors, stalking ...)
And for the pics of Bill, yes he has make a parade during the fashion week.
I don't like the clothes he had.

yeah tokio hotel fans are pretty crazy,i once was in oberhausen at germany's biggest mall when tokio hotel had a show in the hall next to the mall,thousands of fans where there and already waited in line outside for hours and screamed like crazy.

and one of the tokio hotel members (i think it was their guitarist) even attacked one of their stalking fans that's why there will be a trial and the girl he attacked was from france i think. that may sounds rough but these fans were following the bands since weeks privately and got on their nerves and at a gas station the guitarist slapped the face of that one girl and now she tries to sue him :-D

Yes, it's Tom the guitarist who has put a punch at a fan.
She and her friends followed them constantly, they are known as the "Afghannes".
And the fans are able to wait more than several hours before a concert hall.
in Paris, for example, fans are coming two weeks in advance and before the band am really know, the fans were sleeping before their hotel room.

So when fans or women approaching they insulted her and everything.
A few months ago Nathalie, the makeup has been insulted, the fans hate just because she close to Bill. :s_laugh:
