View Full Version : Dr Who
About time we had a thread for Dr Who as well :-p
I'm only really a fan of the 'New Dr's'
David Tennant is my fav Dr and I'm not sure how I'm going to cope when he leaves
http://johnniecraig.files.wordpress.com/2008/10/dr_who_tennant_narrowweb__300x43001.jpg
Christopher Eccleston was really cool though :-D

For frankie lolol http://farm1.static.flickr.com/103/316350537_fd4f2f462c.jpg
Love this show!!!
I wanna thank u again for sending me the dvds Deb :-)
I was sad when Christopher Eccleston was leaving the show, but I had no idea that David Tennant is going to be a lot better than him, he is awesome!! :-)
For frankie lolol http://farm1.static.flickr.com/103/316350537_fd4f2f462c.jpg

David Tennant is my fav Dr and I'm not sure how I'm going to cope when he leaves
I agree. He is really cool. For me, it was one episode because of what i started wathing it. maybe season 3 episode 15? Not sure. It was with the statues.. and after that i noticed we have way too many statues in Tartu... but it was super, the idea of the episode..
You're welcome Jas and yep same for me Christopher was amazing but I took to David instantly
LOL frankie, not so sure you will find one nowdays lol. Theyre a bit like the old red fone boxes, a thing of the past lol :-D
Ah I know which one you mean Mel, where the girl goes into a house and she gives someone a letter or something and stops what happened in the past or something like that lol, I know what I mean anyway :-p Did you go back and watch them all after this Mel?
I get to see alot of Dr Who's due to living with a Doc Nut lol but i dont really like any of the others just the ones with David Tennant in, thought he really carried the character well :-) and the stories were a bit better imo, we watched a re-run of a statue one recently, where if you blinked or looked away from them they killed you or something, memory is blank now and cant describe it properly, i think we're on about the same one anyway Deb lol
Didnt like Christopher Eccleston at all :hmm: cant really ecplain why
Christopher Eccleston was "fantastic" lol, David Tennant carried on in the same vein. I kinda grew up watching Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker who were both brilliant, wasn't as keen on Peter Davison or Colin Baker and the least said about Sylvester McCoy the better lol
Think the recent series can't really be compared to the ones before as the production, effects and budgets are so much bigger and better.
Gonna be interesting to see how the series moves forwards after Russel T. Davies leaves (really hope the rumours about a big budget movie come true!!!!!).
Am I that much older than you lol. I remember the black and white ones
I'm sure I read somewhere that the movie was going ahead :-D but don't rely on what I've read too much lol.
Yeah hopefully it wont change too much, but for me the hardest part will be losing David :-(
btw, well done for making it through that post without mentioning Rose :-D

Yesyes! Exactly that one! and i started wathing in from the beginning after that but something happend and i stopped watching it. should start doing it again..
Yes you should go and watch them all :devildance: :-D
Am I that much older than you lol. :-D
Ahem, clears throat and casually backs out of the room lol

Just found a pic of all the Dr Who's
M, can you name them all without looking it up :-p
Which was everyones 1st Dr? mine was the 2nd one..
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/a/a7/10dr19.jpg
6th was mine kind of, even though i dont like the show lol, my dad used to watch it religously, so i kind of know them all by face, but the 6th was the first time i remember :hmm: the rest were re-runs.
If i had a fave though obviously except Tennant, it would be number 7 though, thought he was quite quirky and funny :-p even though i hated the show as a whole i liked him :-)
No, missing two, will come back to me in time lol
Third one, Jon Pertwee for me, but like you said Deb, you're older lol
6th wow lol.. Daves was the 4th... I guess the Dr we knew first shows our ages :-p
We need a mooning smiley M lol... I have vague memories of number 1
6th wow lol.. Daves was the 4th... I guess the Dr we knew first shows our ages :-p
lmao that does seem to be the case :hehe:
I know someone who will be the exception to this though ;-) just have to wait for that person to surface from watching them online lol..
my first one was the 15th one,the picture to that one will be delivered in about 12 years, oops maybe i should mention i just came back from a timetravel with the tardis :-D
no seriously mine was the 10th as by accident i first started with the chrismas invasion special, but then watching them in order i started with the 9th who by the way somehow reminds me of al bundy :-D
Finally you are back from your tardis travels :-p I missed you yesterday :devildance:
Scarp the bit of xmas special as being your first, that doesn't count :-) LOL never saw Christoper as Al lol. But I guess that's because i watch them in English :-p Maybe you get the same voice over as for Al lololol :devillaugh:
i compared him with al bundy as for the looks and not the voice :-D
frankie, look what I found! Forgot I had a pic of me with one lol
http://forum.maryaroxx.com/picture.php?albumid=20&pictureid=1452

what a cool picture Deb :-)
Is there a lots of "tardis" in London or just a few ? lol
lolol Deb, i'm wondering why kensington of all places though :-)
No Jas, i would actually be surprised if there was another one on the streets of the uk, maybe tussauds might have one with their exhibits :hmm:
Cool pic Deb :-D
You can read all about the Police boxes here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Police_box
and this is the above box... It's at Earls Court Tube Station
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:EarlsCourtEntrance2.jpg
i'm not interested in police boxes in general, only in the ones that they call TARDIS,check this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TARDIS
Think that was on first link I posted... the police box in my pic is on there :-)
hey deb and all other doctor who lovers,

here's the right chrismas present for all doctor who fans,if you wanna enjoy intergalactic sounds then get:
http://forum.maryaroxx.com/picture.php?albumid=110&pictureid=1921
and if you already spend your money for chrismas-presents and you're broke you can even wait until the next paycheck at the end of the year,in that case just use the TardEx-service :-D
http://forum.maryaroxx.com/picture.php?albumid=110&pictureid=1922
wow cool news, captain jack told me the tardis got an update,it now uses the slitheen technology, which means it could show up as anything.
here you see it in action, the dalek in the background can't identify it-what a cool protection :-)
http://forum.maryaroxx.com/picture.php?albumid=110&pictureid=1969
oh and we met the doctor and took a little trip 2300 year back in time. as some of you know i plan to visit stonehenge next year and the doctor told me i should see it's original form,so we went back in time until the year -300,what you don't believe me?
here's the evidence of it,a coin that i took with me:
http://forum.maryaroxx.com/picture.php?albumid=110&pictureid=1970
and stonehenge did not only look different,it also had another name: easterhenge and somehow it looked familiar,it reminds me somehow of the little island near desert island, check this out:

well you have to ask him deb,he'll be in your area around chrismas but he told me something about "the end of time" that it comes soon, etc. so you better hurry
btw he can travel through time but he can't stretch it and what i learned from him is you better don't change anything in the past cause it could change your future

Still haven't had time to watch it :santa_cry: not sure I am looking forward to it anyway as for me it's just a count down to David leaving :santa_cry:
Frankie, New Years days is the last of our dr :santa_cry: sad to say :santa_cry::santa_cry::santa_cry:
i just found an animated episode called "dreamland" with david as the doctor,it's supposed to be a mini series and put together it takes 45 minutes, has anybody seen it yet? i'll watch it in the next couple of days
Nope haven't seen this frankie :xmas_biggrin:
Finally watched the Christmas Dr Who last night and I have to say since he lost his assistant's I'm not enjoying it as much... M are the newer series Russell T Davies? If they aren't then I'm noticing it.. There's something missing for me with the last 3 episodes... For this was the most disappointing Christmas episode yet... hang on i forgot last yrs lol... wasn't that the one with the supposed New Dr? If so I hated that lol.. But at least it was action packed, for me this yrs was dull for a christmas special... and I'm REALLY not looking forward to the next episode :santa_cry:
will the end of time come nearer? well for sure as long as time flows forwards.
can we make it flow backwards? let's wait and see...

was anybody aware yet that you can form the name "torchwood" out of the letters of "doctor who"? :cool3:
http://forum.maryaroxx.com/picture.php?albumid=110&pictureid=2069
Have you watched it yet Frankie or you just spending your time hunting out Dr Who pics?
Only ask coz I'm not sure how much longer I'm gonna be able to hold back writing about why I thought "The End Of Time" was awful lol
@monstro: yep i just finished it about an hour ago, that's why i posted "rose to the rescue" :-D
for my sake start writing about your thoughts...
yes please do M, I'm dying to know if we think the same lol... frankie I'm not so sure you're gonna like M's thoughts lol
well it's just his thoughts so for my sake he can think anything he wants,i have my opinion on it and that won't change
I thought it was sad that after writing so many excellent storylines Russel completely went over the top with this one, story was way too complicated involving way too much and was stretched way too long, the death scene whilst pleasant to see some endings was almost farcical in it's length, Christopher Ecclestone's death scene proved that less is by far more. It was a real shame that David's ending was this way after his brilliant portrayal of the Dr and a bigger shame that I waited so bloody long to be so disappointed. Mr Cribbens was brilliant though, way to many older actors and actresses in this country are ignored, nice to see June Whitfield there as well as a couple of others I recognised in the OAP group lol.
Will be interesting to see the new TARDIS after the crash landing, it's being done for the new Dr. I've seen some clips of the new Dr and may have to change my mind as he may actually do a good job but we'll see.
Pretty much my thoughts exactly M :-( It took me agggessssss to fathom out wtf was going on with the time lords. Dave had to basically spell it out to me. I felt like i was watching every part of 'back to the future' in one go lol. Way too confusing and not very interesting... especially for a xmas special...
BTW M... what was your nice surprise? Mickey and Martha?
lmao Deb, i thought the fact i didnt 'get' the timelord thing, was just cos i'm not a Dr Who fan :hehe:
wasn't a nice surprise, I was just surprised it was so poor lol
nope lol... I was totally confused... I was thinking it was all going on in the present... Didn't get the fact it was all before
There was one massive surprise in the episode for me, can honestly say that I never saw it coming at all!!!!
wasn't a nice surprise, I was just surprised it was so poor lol
LOLOLOL  I see a spin off coming :-D
strange cause i understood the timelord thing and i'm not a native english talker :haha:
or did i understood something wrong? :scare:
anyway it wasn't too long in my opinion,i wish it would have been even longer (the more i could see of tennant, hehe).
seeing again wilfred was great,i really like that dude-fantastic actor!!!
as for the new tardis monstro i could say more but the doctor told me to shut up about it ;-)
the 2 big surprises for me were first that the time lords are still alive and second the "reunion" with his old companions where i really had to
it was so good to see all of the companions again,i think it fit to tennant's last appearance as the doctor-i really love this special except of the fact that there will be a new doctor and the part with rose was different than expected.
But the timelords weren't alive frankie :hmm: what was seen at first was in the past.. but they did come back if thats the part you mean :hehe:
yeah Wilfred was cool. I was sad that Donna couldn't play more of a part in it or another of the assistants for that matter :-(
I also didn't get the part where he 'helped' Jack. What episode was the guy to the right of Jack in? (can't remember his name..)
well the guy next to jack was alonso,if i remember right he was in the episode where jack was back in time at one of the world wars.
and as for the time lords,ok the first part that they have shown was the past, what happened in the old gallifreyan timewar right?
and later on they appeared shortly in the present with the master and the doctor right?
Yeah it was Alonso, but I can't place him as to where and who... The only one I remember that Jack had a connection with was the one in Torchwood where he went back to the war and met himself  :hmm: :-D
And as for timelords you've got it :-D well i think so anyway lololol
Yeah it was Alonso, but I can't place him as to where and who... The only one I remember that Jack had a connection with was the one in Torchwood where he went back to the war and met himself  :hmm: :-D
Oh dear, I can't believe I'm about to say this but............................
even Anji knew this one PMSL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He was a midshipman aboard Titanic, remember?, the Christmas special with Kylie??
Well done Anji, you beat them both!!!!!!
 Technically she didn't as I did remember that when it was on lol. me and Dave spoke about it, she just has the advantage on her brain span lasting more than mine as hers isn't quite so cluttered lololol :devillaugh:
Plus you two watched that epsiode last week :-p
so now after the end of time shall we close this thread?
na,just kidding :-D
http://forum.maryaroxx.com/picture.php?albumid=110&pictureid=2070
does anybody know when the new season starts?
 Technically she didn't as I did remember that when it was on lol. me and Dave spoke about it, she just has the advantage on her brain span lasting more than mine as hers isn't quite so cluttered lololol :devillaugh:
Plus you two watched that epsiode last week :-p
:haha:
Forgot to add 'or so old' lol
 :devillaugh:
I am sooo not commenting on this :-p

not sure Frankie, prob somewhere but it wouldnt make a lot of difference
is anyone actually looking forward to the new series ? i am going to give it a go,might get used to it,but i dont think anyone will ever replace "The Doctor"..lol
well in the beginning i didn't liked ecclestone that much but then he was ok,and i even didn't liked tennant that much in the beginning and now i love him and eventhough it's hard to imagine anyone doing a better job as doctor i don't give up my hope,so at least i'll watch the new series
I'll watch it, but feel like Barb. But I really do hope I accept the new Dr as I will miss it otherwise lol :-D
has anybody here ever seen the old doctor who series?
i mean the old parts from the 60's and 7o's

I used to watch them in the 60/70s frankie, but too be honest they were no where near as good as now. Not by a long shot. Stories were very 'hammy' and the sets were shit

You're welcome frankie :-) Wanted to give you some history lol.

Frankie do you want me to get this to you some how? How long do you normally have to wait for it to show there?
i have no idea deb, with some luck i can see the english version maybe in a few days with some bad luck i need to wait until it comes over to germany (which might take months) but i will probably wait until most of the season is over so i can see the whole season at once, don't wanna wait 1 week for the next show
Found this on my providers homepage :-)
Have fun :-p

aaa by the way the new doctor sucks!! (:
aaa by the way the new doctor sucks!! (:
i agree 100% prox!!! (wish we would have a "you suck" smiley)
it's ok, i really liked david tennant though, think this guy is doing a good job but the stories arent that great this time.
well i still think this guys doing a pretty good job but the stories are soooo lame, getting fed up
well i think the stories and special effects are still great,as for the companion i think i might get used to her with the time but i still don't like the new doctor even after 6 episodes i've seen :-(
Jake and Chloe LOVE the new Dr and Amy Pond :devillaugh: I'm having trouble with both though, I think Amy is over acting but then I guess so do all assistants :hmm: Really cant put my finger on what I'm not sure about with new Dr. Some episodes I'm ok with him others not. I'm also thinking the stories are weak. They actually all seem very low budget compared to others.
But on a good note we now have one room in our house that's Dr Who room :devil_dance: Jake has had his bedroom decorated in a Dr Who theme. He loves it. I can't get him out of there lol and he is really looking after it and keeping it all neat and tidy :-)
Jake has had his bedroom decorated in a Dr Who theme.
can i sleep there when i visit you?
Bet his bedroom looks well cool
Jake and Chloe LOVE the new Dr and Amy Pond :devillaugh: I'm having trouble with both though, I think Amy is over acting but then I guess so do all assistants :hmm: Really cant put my finger on what I'm not sure about with new Dr. Some episodes I'm ok with him others not. I'm also thinking the stories are weak. They actually all seem very low budget compared to others.
That's about it for me as well, it's almost as if they're turning it into a kiddies show, it'll be on CBBC next. I think the Dr may be good but the scripts just aren't doing it for him, poorly written and definately overacted on Amy's part.
Was just thinking that the locations aren't helping in this series either. It all seems to be mainly based in a sleepy village that Amy comes from. Bit different to the fast moving stories based in London that we've had in places like 10 Downing Street and the Houses of Parliament lol.
At first I thought maybe it was all down to Russell leaving as head writer but when you look at some of the episodes Steven and others wrote for the last lot then that's not the case as they wrote some of the better ones. Maybe Steven Moffat is trying to take it more in the direction of the older hammy episodes. Which would explain the CBeebies type format M lol.
i'll watch the 7th episode tonite, liked the vampire story from the last one and it was cool to see the "angels" again,by the way did anybody here blink while seeing the episode?
well, it took me a long long time to get interested in Dr Who, but i'm losing interest in record time :-p
episode 8 was the worst one so far in my opinion, saw it yesterday. really kiddyish and it even continues, seems to be a 2-part-episode
i still don't like the new doctor at all and the new companion, well it looks like they became younger so the younger people get more interested in them,i have no hope that it gets much better soon but there's hope that they replace him with another doctor in the next season
I just watched last nights episode and it was the best so far imo :devildance: Well apart from one stupid stupid stupid part :evil: wtf were they thinking  Wont say anymore till you've seen it frankie as I don't wanna spoil it but they have to find a way out of that lol.
The story was excellent and Matt, Rory and Amy did a great job as did all the other actors in last nights. So the fact it was continued was / is a godd thing frankie and I do think you'll like the story of the 2nd part, much less kiddie and far less low budget lol :-)
now that leaves me with a positive hope deb ;-)
hmm we are watching it tonight so i look forward to that then if you say it's good Deb ;-)
